Almost every building in this picture comes from a different decade from the eighties to the present. Thirty years has brought a wide variety of planning constraints and material fashions in what is really a new-town development.
Many styles and colours were borrowed from other parts of the world, sometimes in an almost frenetic attempt to keep up with the latest trends with nary a thought to trying to create something original. Of late however there is a distinct style emerging, modern, white and silver, nothing highly original, but perhaps a new vernacular is emerging - a clearer style.
Note that any similarity between the this photoblog and the regional newspaper from Queensland Australia, which is also known as the Sunshine Coast Daily, is purely coincidental. We have absolutely no relationship with that publication apart from the fact that we live in the same town. If you would like to read more of the goings on in our particular tiny corner of the world, please feel free to visit The Daily online.
